Upholstery Cropped Tailcoat
I've been saving this french knotted antique upholstery for years, waiting for other special fabrics and trims to come into my life to assemble into something worthy. There was only a very little bit of it - I hardly wasted any. Incorporated into the front and back yoke of what I'm calling a "cropped tailcoat". There had to be a perfect little closure for this jacket, not a ribbon, something more special, not just a singular tassel dangling carelessly from the end of some string, no, a double tasseled rope of the perfect length and width. Antique heavyweight crushed velvet upholstery fabric adds a real substantial weight that is just right. The back pleated tailcoat is made of a dead stock powdery pink moire. Moire being an all time forever favorite of mine - it's not ugly it never could be. Scallop trim on the yoke hems and cuffs. Delicate beading around the center front bodice. The whole thing is lined with a soft dead stock quilter's cotton.
